DAP
Also known as: Delivered at Place
An Incoterm for any mode of transport under which the seller bears the cost and risk of delivering the goods to a named destination, ready for unloading, while the buyer handles import clearance and duties.
DAP is followed by the destination, often the buyer's warehouse or a fulfilment centre. The seller carries the goods and the risk all the way there, but unloading, import customs clearance, duty and import VAT or sales tax stay with the buyer. That is the key difference from DDP, where the seller also clears import and pays duty.
DAP is a common choice when a Chinese supplier or forwarder offers door-to-door delivery but you want to remain the importer and control the customs declaration. Line up a customs broker at destination in advance, or the goods will wait at the port. See EXW vs FOB vs DDP.
