Dehua county's ceramics cluster reached an output value of RMB 66.3 billion in 2024, up 15% year on year, according to Xinhua, and it counts more than 4,500 ceramic enterprises employing over 100,000 people. The county is the historic home of blanc de Chine, the ivory-white porcelain known in China as 'China White', and today it makes everything from art figurines and tea sets to Christmas ornaments, candle holders and everyday tableware. Its products are sold to more than 190 countries and regions, making it one of China's key bases for ceramic gifts and craft porcelain.

Buyer tips
- Anything that touches food or drink (mugs, tea sets, plates) needs lead and cadmium migration testing to your market's rules, such as US FDA limits and California Prop 65, or EU/German LFGB; glazes and on-glaze decals are the usual failure point, so test the finished decorated item, not a blank.
- Many Dehua factories specialise in either art/craft porcelain or export gift and decor ceramics; for seasonal lines like Christmas figurines and ornaments, place orders by spring because mould-making, firing and sea freight take months.
- Custom shapes require new moulds, which usually means a mould fee and higher MOQs, while adding your logo or decal to a factory's existing shape is much cheaper; ask for the factory's open catalogue first.
- Breakage is the biggest landed-cost risk: agree inner packaging, carton strength and a drop test before shipment, and state a breakage allowance in the contract.
