Linyi's commodity markets recorded a transaction value of about 612.6 billion yuan in 2023, spread across 125 specialised wholesale markets, which is why the city is often described as northern China's answer to Yiwu. It is also China's largest plywood base: in 2024 its panel makers had capacity of roughly 42.7 million cubic metres a year, about 19% of the national total. For buyers, Linyi works both as a wood-panel manufacturing cluster and as a consolidation point where goods from across northern China are traded and trucked out.

Buyer tips
- For plywood and panels, specify the glue/emission grade (e.g. E1, E0, CARB Phase 2 / TSCA Title VI for the US, EN 13986 / CE for Europe) in writing; cheaper mills often substitute lower-grade core veneers and urea-formaldehyde glue.
- Ask for thickness tolerance, core species and face grade per sheet and have a third-party inspector measure moisture content and delamination before loading; mixed-grade containers are a common complaint.
- Many stalls in the Linyi markets are traders, not factories: they are useful for mixed-SKU, low-MOQ general merchandise orders, but verify the actual manufacturer before placing repeat or private-label orders.
- Linyi's strength is freight: its dense network of trucking lines makes it a practical place to consolidate LCL cargo from several northern Chinese suppliers before trucking to Rizhao or Qingdao.
