Caoxian's hanfu (traditional Han-style clothing) trade passed 10 billion yuan in total sales in 2023, and the county holds roughly 40% of China's domestic hanfu market. It is equally known for wood: Chinese media report that about 90% of coffins sold in Japan are made here, largely from lightweight paulownia wood, and the county's forest-products output reached 131.2 billion yuan in 2024. Much of the business runs through e-commerce, with village-level workshops selling directly on Taobao and other platforms.

Buyer tips
- Hanfu and costume suppliers are mostly small e-commerce workshops geared to fast, low-MOQ runs; they can copy a design within days, so protect your own designs and expect quality to vary sharply between shops.
- For costumes and children's garments going to the US/EU, test for flammability, azo dyes and heavy metals in trims (CPSIA, REACH); many workshops have never produced to export test standards.
- For wooden products, ask about wood species, kiln-drying and fumigation/ISPM 15 compliance for packaging; paulownia is light and cheap but soft, so check dent resistance and finish quality.
- Caoxian is inland with no nearby container port, so budget for trucking or rail to Lianyungang or Qingdao and allow extra lead time.
