Haining houses roughly 90% of China's leather-garment production capacity, according to industry coverage of the 2025 Haining China Leather Expo, with annual output above RMB 76 billion across more than 10,000 upstream and downstream firms. The city also hosts more than 5,000 local leather fashion brands, and livestream sales approached RMB 20 billion in 2024. Beyond leather, the Maqiao warp-knitting park is one of China's largest bases for warp-knitted fabrics, and the Xucun area is a major home-textile and curtain-fabric cluster.

- Leather garment production is highly seasonal: factories are busiest from summer into early winter, so place autumn/winter orders by spring to secure capacity and hide supply.
- Confirm the actual material in writing (full-grain vs split leather, sheepskin vs cowhide, genuine vs faux fur) and check fur/wildlife rules in your market; the US Fur Products Labeling Act and EU CITES rules can apply to fur trims.
- Ask for REACH-related test reports on chromium VI and azo dyes for leather sold into the EU, since these are common failure points.
- Warp-knit fabric mills in Maqiao work at large volumes; small buyers usually do better through converters or stockists who can cut lower MOQs from existing greige.
